McArtor Pizzeria!
Homemade pizza has become a bit of an obsession for Jason lately. He has always liked to make homemade pizza on Sunday nights–a tradition he has carried on from his childhood. So, since we have it so often, we decided to invest in a pizza stone and a pizza peel and “do it right” as Jason says. He finally got his pizza peel delivered today, so guess what we had for supper? Yep, homemade pizza. I even decided to make some fresh pizza dough in my breadmaker–so it was truely a “homemade” pizza….and boy did it taste good–much better than any restaurant pizza! Anya even got in on making the pizza…she thought it was pretty fun (and we have the flour everywhere to prove it
)
Anyways, here are some pictures of our homemade pizza adventures. If you are ever in town on a Sunday night…stop by for the best pizza in town!
Valentines Weekend 2009!
We survived our latest snow storm…but it did throw a wrench into a few of our plans. To celebrate Valentine’s Day, we were going to go out to eat with our neighbors Friday night, but b/c of the terrible road conditions, we decided to postpone our date. Anya had an ENT appointment in West Des Moines Friday afternoon and it took us 2 hours to get from there to home!!! I couldn’t believe how fast the roads got bad–it was truely a nightmare! I had never been so glad to be home safe and sound–and never so glad that we have a TV in our van that kept Anya occupied as we made our trek home.
Saturday morning the whole family slept in–it felt great and I think we all really needed the few extra hours of sleep. We managed to pull ourselves out of bed just before 10am and then enjoyed Jason’s signature Saturday breakfast of pancakes and eggs. Then after a few hours of lounging around the house we headed over to the Sleep Inn here in Pleasant Hill to go swimming with Katelyn & Allie (Jason’s cousins) who were in town for a show at the State Fair. I was anxious to see how Anya would do swimming since she hasn’t been in a pool since summer, but boy did she jump right in. Once we strap her float backpack on her, there is no stopping her. Josiah was a little concerned with the pool at first, but once we got in the hot tub (which was not very hot, don’t worry) he was much happier.
After a couple hours of swimming, Kenny, Brooke & the kids all came back to our house and we ordered pizza and hung out. It was fun getting to see them and Anya always has a blast playing with Katelyn & Allie.
Sunday we went to church and then headed to Babies R’ Us to look at strollers for our upcoming Disney trip. I have been having anxiety attacks over picking the right stroller (I don’t know why), so finally I decided I was going to bring Jason & the kids and we were going to get one picked out. I am happy to report that we finally got one and got a great deal on it–half price thanks to a sale going on and a coupon I had–can’t beat a deal like that! So, now we are one step closer to having all the essentials for our trip!
Well, here are a few pictures from the weekend. Hope everyone had a good Valentine’s Day and weekend.
Christmas in February?!
Finally the weather cooperated and allowed Papa Ronnie, G’ma Jeryl, Aunt Joni and Great G’ma Bertie to come visit us. We have had the trip planned several times, but the snow and ice made the weekends since Christmas not very good for traveling. So, thank you Mother Nature for letting it be nice on the weekend for once so they could make the trip!
So, along with our visitors came more Christmas presents for the kids. Anya again had fun ripping through her gifts and helping Josiah with his as well. It was a fun day having them here and the kids thought Christmas in February isn’t all bad!
Here are a few pictures of our weekend visitors.
Terrible Teething
Josiah has had a rough, long week trying to get a new tooth in. He has been working on his 2nd tooth for several days now and, although we can’t see it, he can definitely feel it! He has been a combination of slightly crabby, very clingy and restless. It is has been hard on Jason & I also because there isn’t much we can do to comfort him and we don’t like that. This is all a new experience for us as Anya was never bothered in the least by teething. So, I now understand what people are talking about when the say teething is terrible. No wonder he waited so long to get his teeth……
Besides teething he has also started pulling up on anything he can get his mitts on. He prefers the rocking chair (not the most stable choice since he usually ends up back on his butt), the couch and our legs. The only problem with him using our legs is that he tries to do it as you are walking by—he will literally throw himself at your legs as you are in mid-step. So as you can imagine, it doesn’t work out very well for him or us. He also stood up in the bathtub last night and thought he was pretty cool standing next to his sister.

So, that is about all that has been going. We are enjoying the nicer weather and hoping that some of this snow will start to disappear. Have a great weekend!
SuperBowl Sunday 2009!
Well, even though it is SuperBowl Sunday, we don’t have any big party plans. We aren’t too much for watching pro football (ok, so I’m not much for watching pro football) and Jason doesn’t really care if it doesn’t involve the Bears. But, since there probably won’t be anything else on, I’m sure we will watch it. I don’t really know much about the teams playing, but we are cheering for the Cardinals mainly because of Kurt Warner.
It has been a quiet weekend for us. Jason actually did a show here in town in town at The Holiday Inn by the airport–it was all day yesterday and until 3pm today, so he is home already. So, while he was gone, the kids and I just hung out. On Friday at her ENT checkup for her tubes, we found out Anya had a viral throat infection, so she needed a few days to lay low and get feeling better. She seems to have perked up and hasn’t had too much of a temp today, so I think she is definitely on the mend.
Josiah is now doing this really weird combination of rolling and crawling to get around and he NEVER sits still anymore. Gone are the days of rocking my itty bitty baby boy and on to the days of a squiggling, wiggling boy. Goodbye to putting him down in one place and having him stay here and hello to closing the gate at the top of the stairs, closing the bathroom door and constantly watching where he is and what he is near. Tell me again why I was so anxious for him to crawl
Here are a few of the latest pictures of the kids. I am going to try and get Josiah’s crawl/roll on tape–if I do, I will post it.
