Updates!

Here are a few updates on what has been going on around here:

Anya went to the eye doctor last week to see how the glasses and patching was going. Dr Whang thought the patching was working, but determined that the glasses just aren’t doing what they need to—so, for now, Anya doesn’t have to wear glasses anymore. We are continuing with the patching 6-8 hours a day (which is going pretty good these days) and Dr Whang will continue to monitor her vision as she gets older to see what the next step is. So, it is one of those lovely wait and see situations that I just LOVE to be a part of considering my huge amount of patience ;)

Anya continues to make huge strides in the potty training department. She is exclusively in pull-ups now (by her request) and can pretty much go all day staying dry. She is getting much better at telling us she needs to use the potty, but we still catch her trying to skip a trip every now and then. But, I am just so thankful that she has finally taken some interest in it….I don’t want 2 kids in diapers!

As far as Baby McArtor is concerned, I just had my 19 week appointment yesterday and everything looked good. I don’t know if this baby moves more than Anya did or if I have just forgotten, but s/he is definitely in there having a dance party. Jason finally felt the first kick from the outside last night–but according to Anya the baby is kicking every time she touches my belly! I will officially be half way on Sunday—hard to believe. If the second half of this pregnancy goes as fast and the first, it will be April before we know it….better get the nursery started!

What are you thankful for? That is something Jason & I talked about last night while eating our yummy turkey dinner. We have so many things to be thankful for that our cup truly does runneth over with blessings.

Hope you had time to count your blessing yesterday and maybe every now and again through out the year!

  • Wardrobe Issues!

Anya’s newest little quirk (like she didn’t have enough already!) is taking her clothes off. Doesn’t sound like a big deal, except when she decides she wants her clothes off, it doesn’t matter where she is (like Gordman’s, the grocery store, twice in Walmart and about 99% of the time we are at home). Today on her daycare sheet it said she took her socks off and hid them…they are yet to be found. I was just happy it was only her socks she decided to hide….it definitely could have been much worse!

Also on the subject of clothing is her newest obsession with 1 particular pair of PJ’s. It is actually a nightgown with a picture of Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty and 1 other Disney girl that we can’t identify that was included in a lot of clothes I got off of ebay. It is actually sort of homely and has a few holes in the lacey skirt part, but she LOVES it and has to wear her “princess” every night to bed. We always have a few tears in the morning when it is time to take “princess” off, and we have to lay it on her pillow so that it will be ready and waiting for her again that night.

On an unrelated note, the potty training has taken a turn for the better around here. She is consistently using the potty at home and at daycare and is having more and more dry diapers when it is time to go. I think it is finally starting to make sense to her…….now if we could just get her to keep her clothes on!

  • Aqua Tots!

    anya swimming

Tonight Anya had her first session of swimming lessons…she is in the Aqua Tot group. She did fantastic and it was fun to get to be in the water with her and watch her have so much fun. She is an old pro at blowing bubbles, but she did learn how to float on her back and even did a little front floating. At the very end we did “Ring Around the Rosie” and when we “all fell down” the kids got submerged…and boy was she surprised when she came back up! But, she got over it pretty quickly and was even ready to do a little more floating with her head ABOVE water!

Here are a few more pictures of her swimming lessons.
