Water Baby!

We had a really fun day today. We went to church this morning and then headed to the Altoona aquatic center this afternoon to beat the heat! I’m not exactly sure when the change in her attitude towards water occurred, but Anya has gone to being deathly afraid of water to being a little fish. Now instead of dragging her INTO the water, we had to drag her OUT of the pool kicking and screaming! Anyways, we had a lot of fun at the pool and Anya even braved the little kiddie slide they had…it was so cute.

This weekend I also continued my sewing adventures. I completed my second purse and it turned out pretty good. I took it to church this morning and immediately upon sitting down, I got a compliment on how cute my purse was. When I told the lady I had made it, she wanted to know if I took orders for purses…I just had to laugh and told her I was an absolute novice when it came to sewing and I needed about 10 more years of experience before I could ever make something professional enough to sell. Maybe someday down the road!

Anya is still liking her big girl room, but hasn’t taken too well to her toddler bed. She has taken full advantage of the fact that she can get out of bed and had come bearing pillow and blanket to our bed every night for a week now. So, we are going to go back to the crib for a little while and see if we can get her sleeping back on track.

Well, it is getting late, so I better wrap it up. Here are a few pictures of our weekend.

  • Big Girl Room!

This last weekend, Jason & I finally got motivated and painted Anya’s new big girl bedroom. Thankfully, Papa Jim came down for the weekend to Anya-sit while we painted and the whole project went pretty smoothly. Jason and Dad also replaced the ceiling fan in her bedroom and we converted her crib into a toddler bed, so we got a lot accomplished. I haven’t gotten around to decorating her room yet, but have lots of fun plans to go along with the wild and crazy colors we picked out for the walls (just picture a giant watermelon :) ) Here are some pictures of the before and after, although the after pictures didn’t turn out too well because the sun was shining so bright through the window. We will take more pictures once the room is complete!

While Jason & I were busy painting, Papa Jim & Anya were busy being busy! They had a fun-filled Saturday…started by going to the downtown farmer’s market, came home and had nap, and then headed to the Blank Park Zoo to check out all the animals. Thanks Papa Jim for coming and babysitting…it definitely made our job much easier!

Oh, and today is Aunt Joni’s birthday…HAPPY BIRTHDAY AUNT JONI! We hope you had a great day!!!!

  • 2 year check-up!

On Monday, Anya had her 2 year old check-up. She was such a good girl the whole time Dr. Uthe was checking her out–she even said “Hi Doctor” when she came into the room! She officially weighs 28.2 lbs and is 34.25 inches tall. That means she has gained 3.5 lbs and is 4 inches taller than at her 18 month check-up–right on track!

  • Anya’s 2!!

    birthday07

We had a big weekend around here. The main event was Anya’s birthday….she turned 2 on Friday the 13th! We had a big birthday bash here today to celebrate her 2nd birthday and Aubrey’s 1st birthday as the girl’s birthdays are only 1 day apart. We had a great time watching the girls open their presents and Anya definitely destroyed her cake…and got a sugar high from all the frosting she ate. I made Anya’s cakes again this year and we had a LadyBug theme for her….it turned out good and I am glad to have my cake baking/decorating responsibilities over for another year! It is hard to believe our little Nut is already 2 years old….seems like just yesterday we were bringing her home from the hospital. Being a mommy has definitely been the best 2 years of my life and Jason and I thank God everyday for Anya and all the joy she brings into our life.

Hope everyone else had a great weekend. Here are some pictures of our birthday fun…..we had a great time!

  • 4th of July!

Hope everyone had a great day yesterday. I had to work 9-5 which meant Jason & Anya had some quality daddy-daughter time. Sounds like they had a pretty good day together and the house wasn’t even too much of a disaster when I got home, so that was good! After I got off of work, we had supper and then headed out to run a few errands and then go to the fireworks at Adventureland. It was a beautiful evening to sit outside while we waited for the show to begin and Anya had fun watching the kids around us play with sparklers. The fireworks themselves weren’t anything too impressive, but we still had a good time and it was fun watching Anya “ohh” and “ahh” over the fireworks.

Here are a few pictures of us at the fireworks

  • Sew-Sew Weekend

This weekend I began to teach myself to sew. Yep, that wasn’t a typo…I am learning how to sew. It is something I have been thinking for doing for awhile and I decided there is no better time than now, so I did alittle research on sewing machines, bought a decent model and dived right in. There is a certain bag I have been seeing over and over again that I wanted to try and make, so I ordered the pattern off the internet, picked out some fabric, got a few sewing supplies and spent a good part of Saturday sewing away. I actually got up early to finished the bag Sunday morning before church (don’t even ask how late I stayed up Saturday night working on that thing) and am pretty proud of the results. Anya has taken over the bag as her own now that it is finished even though it is bigger than she is. I have actually started another bag and am making a few modifications on it that I think will be nice, so we will see how it turns out. Anyways, I will keep you posted on how my sewing progresses–Jason is having fun calling me “Martha” (as in Martha Stewart)!

Saturday morning we went downtown to the farmer’s market again and it was a beautiful outside. We again got some cinnamon rolls from the Amish and they were very good. We also got a few odds and ends and Anya got to make a “bee” headband at the kid’s activity tent which was very cute.

Well, I am either having allergies or a summer cold, so think I will hit the hay. Hope everyone had a good weekend and here are a few pictures of my sewing debut and of Anya being goofy.
