PostHeaderIcon Aubrey’s Baptism

This weekend we were in Forest City for little Aubrey’s baptism. Jason & I were baptismal sponsers along with Jared, Jill’s brother. It was a nice church service and then we had a great lunch back at Jason and Jill’s house. Everything went well and Aubrey was a trooper through all the excitement. Anya did great also during church…Grandma Barb managed to get her to take a little cat nap during the service, which was wonderful as sitting still is usually not her cup of tea! Here are a few pictures of the weekend and some other random “Anya pics”.

We learned today that Anya is quite the pineapple lover. They served pineapple at daycare for part of the breakfast today and it turns out that, of the 8 kids in her room, she was the only one who liked it. So, because she doesn’t believe in wasting good food, she ate all the other kids pineapple too! Can’t believe she didn’t have a tummy ache after that…..(might also be the reason she had two major poopy diapers since)!!

Another project is in the books here at McArtor Manor….the guest bathroom is rid of the hideous fish border!! The previous owners of this house had great taste in almost everything they did around here…with the exception of the fish border they put up in that room.

I was expecting this whole project to be relatively easy as it is a fairly small space with not a whole lot of wall involved because of the shower, mirror/vanity, door and closet. Unfortunately, I underestimated the work involved in removing the border. It didn’t take me long to realize that the previous owners had adhered the border directly to the drywall without painting or priming the wall first. So, as I tried to remove the border, I also removed pieces of the wall….what a nightmare. Luckily, with a little help from the internet and ALOT of patience, I was able to remove it piece by piece. Once it was down, the rest was all downhill!

So, here are a few pictures of the before and after of the bathroom. Let me know what you think!

PostHeaderIcon Camping at Cutty’s!

Well, we survived our very first camping adventure all by ourselves (without my parents along to guide the way) and we had a great time! We wanted to get away to celebrate our anniversary in some way and this was the perfect mini-vacation to get us out of Des Moines. It was very peaceful at Cutty’s and it felt as if we had the place all to ourselves. We had lunch with my grandparents, went swimming, antique shopping, out for supper and spent alot of family time just hanging out enjoying our time away. Anya had a great time “roughing it” and by the end of our trip was actually enjoying her time in the swimming pool! We had such a good time we are excited to borrow Mom & Dad’s camper again next summer! Here are a few pictures of our time away.

Jason is back in hog heaven now that football season has officially started again. He made the trip to Iowa City on Saturday along with the other guys for the season opener against Montana. Jason, Jill and their kids were here for the weekend so Jason & Zachary could also go to the game. It was nice seeing them…I couldn’t believe how much Aubrey had grown since we saw her last and they boys were full of their usual energy. Doesn’t take much to entertain Anya when they are here!

Well, have laundry up to my eyeballs to get done, so better get another load going.
