Monday is over!
Always glad when Monday comes and goes…just glad to have the week started and be one day closer to the weekend. Work wasn’t too bad today, so glad for that.
Had another busy weekend. Was back in Ringsted for my cousin’s wedding, so Anya has another road trip under her belt. We got to see alot of the family, so that was nice. Only thing that could have made the weekend better was if the outcome of the Hawkeye game would have been in our favor…but I won’t even start on that subject!!
Well, is about time to put Anya down for the night, so better start winding down for the night. Here are a few pictures to look at from the weekend.
2 month check-up!
Last Wednesday, Anya had he 2 month check-up and we were glad to hear that she is as happy and healthy as we thought she was. She weighed in at 12 lbs and was 23.5 inches long, so she is growing and growing. Still everyone is amazed at the hair that she has and I think she has started to discover it herself as her new favorite thing to do is rub her hands on her head. It might be due to the fact that the first thing most people due upon meeting her is touch her hair! She also got her first round of immunizations at her check-up. She was not a happy little girl after that, but they didn’t keep her down for too long, which we were glad for. In other good news about her, she has started to sleep ALMOST all through the night. She goes down around 9pm and wakes around 5am to eat. That is definitely a sleep schedule I can handle!!
She is still doing very well at daycare…they said she loves to be rocked (which we were already well aware of) and she loves to “talk” which she is doing more and more everyday…guess she is going to be a chatterbox like her dad
Being back to work is also going good…it is nice only having to go 3 days a week…that extra day home really seems to make a big difference.
I started back up with aerobics class this week…I did one on Saturday and one this morning. Felt good to exercise again, but I can tell most of my muscles have been on a long vacation as pretty much every part of my body seems to be sore.
Last night we went out to eat with Brad & Steph at Christopher’s. It was their anniversary and since our anniversaries are so close, they asked if we wanted to join them. We had a really nice meal and Anya was good while we were out.
Well, guess that is all for now. Here are a few more of Anya’s latest pictures.
iPod nano
iPods have been around for about 5-6 years now, and they quickly caught the public eye and have become the most-sold mp3 player on the market. Despite the buzz and popularity, I was able to curb my enthusiasm for the fancy little hard drive with the “mug me” white little earphones…until the recent popularity of Podcasts, and the release of the newest, minute version of the iPod, nano.
There are also many resources and websites containing tutorials and tips for creating your own Podcasts, detailing the steps and procedures you may go through to make a little “radio show” of your own to share with the world. I’m in the planning process of creating my own, hopefully starting in a month or so.

Rick Tharp
Got bad news (and fairly old news) this morning of one of my favorite graphic designers, whom I was fortunate enough to meet 2 years ago when I asked him to come to Des Moines to speak to our Art Directors group. Rick’s “Tharp Did It” art was some of the first that I noticed when began college at DMACC and he was a humorous writer for the graphic design industry and was periodically published in HOW Magazine—I enjoyed all of his work immensely. He was very down to earth and when he came to visit Des Moines, he wanted to stay and extra day so he could tour parts of the town. It sounds like a medical condition was the beginning of the end for him and it’s too bad.
Week 8
I have had some pictures posted on the website for a week or so, but forgot to write that I put them up. Click here to check out some week 8 pictures of Anya.
Was a transition week for us around here….I went back to work and Anya had her first few days at daycare. Work went pretty well, although it was very hard to leave Anya the first day and head back to work. We are still fine-tuning our routine, but I think we are getting a pretty good schedule established and things are falling into place pretty nicely. Anya did very good at daycare. They said she smiled and coo’ed all day on Tuesday…they think she must have alot to say about things. Wonder where she got that from?
Tuesday was also Jason and my 2nd wedding anniversary. We didn’t do anything too exciting as it was my first day back to work and then we had a baptism meeting that night. Jason did send me flowers at work which was very sweet and helped make my first day back at work alittle more bearable.
This last weekend we were up in Rochester, MN for a wedding of my close friend, Brandi, from pharmacy school. Mom made the trip with us to help watch Anya as I was busy with wedding stuff most of the weekend. Was nice to have her there and I think she enjoyed it also. Brandi & Matt had a beautiful wedding and a great reception and dance….was alot of fun to see some pharmacy friends that I hadn’t seen since graduation and catch up on what they had all been up to.
So, that is what has been going on here in the last week or so. Will post more updates and pictures soon.
Thursday afternoon
Finally got around to putting a few more pictures of Anya up on the site. Click here to see the new pictures. She is sure growing and now smiling and cooing…she is so cute when her face lights up with a grin.
Yesterday was her 7-week birthday. I know I have said it a million times, but I can’t believe how fast those weeks have went. We started the transition to her sleeping in her crib and it is going pretty well. Last night she slept from 9:30pm to 4:30am (7 hours) straight, so that was great. Keeping my fingers crossed that it continues!
Jason is off playing sand volleyball tonight and Anya and I are hanging out at home. Think we are going to make spagetti for supper, so better get busy!!
More later.
Nice Article about New Hawk
Welcome to Hawk Central
With the start of college football just a few days away, here is a very nice article about a Hawkeye that probably very few people have heard of yet. He got injured just after the article was written, but hopefully it won’t keep him out long.
