More Visitors!!
With the state fair going on in town last week, we had more McArtor family vistors. On Wednesday, Jason’s uncle, Jerry, his friend Pat and 3 of his 4 girls came to visit Anya. Mandi, Niki & Kari spent the afternoon holding and rocking Anya (her favorite thing to do) and even Uncle Jerry took his turn at holding her. It was nice to have them here and great to see them.
Ron, Jeryl & Joni were also in town for the fair. They came over Wednesday night for supper and then Joni spent the night. Thursday Ron & Jeryl were out at the fair most of the day and Joni hung out here with Anya & I. As Jason posted earlier in the week, Ron had a good turn out at the fair with his pig winning champion Duroc gilt…very exciting.
Over the weekend we didn’t do anything too exciting. On Saturday, Jason & Brad Cathcart went to Iowa City to watch the Hawkeye’s open football practice. They had a good time, but it only fueled their Hawkeye fever even more…oh brother!!
Click here for pictures of our recent vistors. Take a look and I will write more later.
Champion Duroc Gilt
Had some company over the past week with the Iowa State Fair going on. Brooke and the girls came to visit Anya last Wednesday (I think—I’m having a hard time keeping track of days in my old age) when they were setting up for the fair. And just this past Wednesday, Jerry, Pat, Mandi, Nikki and Cari came to see us, so we’ve been busy showing off the new addition to our family. My parents and Joni were also in town the past couple days, and to top it off, my Dad picked out the right pig to bring to the fair and ended up winning Champion Duroc Gilt yesterday. We’ll try to get some pictures of all of our visitors up in the next couple days. It was fun to see everyone…better get back to work.
First Road Trip
This weekend we survived our first road trip with Anya and it went pretty good. We ventured up north to Ringsted to see my side of the family. We got to Mom & Dad’s around 5pm, so we made pretty good time. Mom and Dad had both thought she had gotten so big since seeing her a few weeks ago.
Well, Anya got to meet alot of her family this weekend. Friday night Monty & Lana came over to meet Anya. Then on Saturday we had lunch over at Grandma Ruth’s and Grandpa Arnold’s. We had a gourmet lunch and toured Gram’s gardens. Then we headed over to Estherville to visit Gram Martha. I think they all enjoyed meeting and holding Anya…no one could believe how much hair she has!!
Sunday we just hung out at Mom & Dad’s house with Jason, Jill, Zachary and Noah. We had a big dinner and then spent the rest of the day lounging around and entertaining the boys. I still can’t believe how much Zachary and Noah like to be around Anya….they are always wanting to hold her or kiss her…it is adorable!
This week we are going to have more visitors as Grandma Jeryl, Grandpa Ron and Aunt Joni will be in town for the state fair. They will be here on Wednesday & Thursday and I think Anya is excited to see them again.
Well, better close for now. Click here for a few pictures from our weekend home.
4 weeks old!!
Yesterday (Wed) marked 4 weeks that Anya has been here….I can’t believe how fast those days have gone. She had her first round of prof. pictures yesterday and they went really well. I was just happy that she was awake during them…that was a small miracle!!
Tuesday we had visitors…Jason’s aunt, Brooke, and his cousins, Caitlyn & Allie, came to see Anya. We had a nice visit with them and they enjoyed seeing and holding Anya. It is always nice to have visitors!
This weekend we are heading up north to my parent’s. It will be our first road trip with Anya, so will be interesting to see how it goes. It is crazy how much stuff one small baby requires!!
Well, guess that is about all that has been going on around here. Here are a few of Anya’s latest pictures.
Tuesday 8/2
Thought I better get on here and post some more pictures of Anya. She seems to be growing before our very eyes…every morning when Jason wakes up he says “I think she grew overnight!” Last week she had her 2-week check-up and weighed in at 8lbs 6oz and was 21 inches long. Click here to see the latest “Anya photos”.
Otherwise, all is going well. Last week, Jason’s parents, sister and grandparents made the trip to Des Moines to see Anya. It was nice having them here and we were so glad they were able to come and spend the day. Joni stayed overnight and we enjoyed having her here…is nice to have an extra set of hands to help keep Anya entertained and Joni was excellent at that!
We didn’t do anything too exciting over the weekend. Saturday morning Anya got her first bath in an actual tub and she seemed to really enjoy it. She didn’t really know what to think at first, but the longer she was in the water, the more she liked it. It took both Jason & I to get it done as we didn’t really know what to expect, but today I managed one on my own.
Saturday night she had her first “diaper-blowout” while Jason was holding her. I had just changed her and gave her to Jason to feed. While he was feeding her he thought his leg felt strangely “warm”…well it turns out her diaper hadn’t done a very good job of containing what it was suppose to….so actually both Anya and Jason had 2 baths that day. Jason didn’t know what the think, but I thought it was pretty humorous!!
Last night Brad and Steph invited us over for supper, so it was Anya’s first dinner-party. We had Rollo-burgers on the grill and I made homemade cookies n’ cream ice cream for dessert. Was fun to get out of the house and see those guys for alittle bit. I think tonight we are going to have BLT’s for supper using the home-grown tomatos Jason’s grandma brought us (Thanks Bertie!)
Well, guess that catches us up on everything that has been going on the last week or so. More later.
